The latest marketing ploy these days is for bands to perform concerts that feature one album from their back catalog in its entirety — and presumably a shitload of encores spanning the rest of their music. The first show I saw advertised this way was for Liz Phair performing her 1993 debut album, “Exile in Guyville” — a show that would be worth attending just to have a chance to hear some of the raunchy playfulness that first made Liz famous. Another band that has chosen to spotlight one of their older albums and take it on the road is They Might Be Giants. This show would be worth the price of admission just to see and hear the two John’s perform today’s Happy Medium Song of the Day, “Birdhouse in Your Soul” from their 1990 release Flood.
