Somewhere in my box of cassettes is a 90 minute tape with about 50 songs by The Lyres that I pieced together from albums and singles by the band that my film school friend's Andy and Steve owned. I hadn't really thought about them much recently (although I have been listening to a lot of similar music lately) until the musical director for my one and only favorite television show, Rescue Me, dusted off one of their songs and included it in the show. That signature organ and frantic tremolo guitar just sounded so good in a snippet, I had to ditch my initial choice, and go with “Help You Ann” for today's Happy Medium Song of the Day. The song is one of 20(!) songs off their second album, On Fyre which was released in 1984 and then re-released in 1998 — proving that you just can't get too much of a good thing… (Please use the comments box to share your thoughts.)
