My singles' collection is a 6' testament to many hours of serious “Big Game” record hunting. It's also full of rare picture sleeves, colored vinyl, imports, guilty pleasures, rare test-pressings, flexi-discs, alternate versions, re-mixes, unusual b-sides and, my favorite: one-hit wonders. One hit wonders are generally bands who were either incapable of putting together a cohesive LP-sized collection of songs, or didn't last any longer than the time it took to record the one song. Today's Happy Medium Song of the Day is one I heard in 1980 while attending school in England. It's a romantic, dreamy, trance-like love song featuring the alluring voice of Barbara Gogan floating amidst a delicate wash of Echoplex guitar. The Passions reportedly recorded two full-length albums, but neither one ever saw the light of day on this side of the Atlantic and nothing they recorded, to my knowledge, ever met with the success of “I'm in Love With A German Film Star.” (Please use the comments box to share your thoughts.)
