I always forget how much I liked the Talking Heads until I accidentally hear one of their songs… silly big suits and exaggerated mannerisms aside, the Talking Heads were definitely major contributors to the soundtrack of my college experience; especially the first four LP's: Talking Heads '77, More Songs About Buildings and Food, Fear of Music and Remain in Light.
As I was packing for a road trip to visit a few colleges in New York with Andy this weekend, an older Taking Heads song popped into my head. Taking a road trip in the direction of uncertainty and adventure in times fraught with confusion and danger struck me as the perfect pre-college experience. I suppose even when the destination ahead is uncertain, it is, after all is said and done, the experience of the journey that make it all worthwhile.
