You knew it was coming… You knew it had to happen… Really, there was no avoiding it… And actually, I thought about posting a cover version that I have, but in the end… there's just no getting around the original. I know at least one of you plans on “hunting me down” for this installment, while I'm sure someone else would never forgive me if I didn't include it… 

But first, a few fun facts:

• the band was signed after winning England's ITV talent contest, Opportunity Knocks  

• their first hit was No. 1 on the British charts for three weeks in March, 1974 (I was looking at three more months of 8th grade)  

• they were the most successful band the city of Nottingham ever produced  

• they were invited to perform on the Royal Variety Performance in front of the Queen Mother  

• they were on the first K-Tel record I ever bought
