Most of you probably remember today's song, performed as a drunken sea shanty by Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, and Richard Dreyfuss in the movie Jaws. It's the ultimate end-of-a-night-out-on-the-town-tune — meant to be sung in slurred harmony as you stumble, arm-in-arm on the way home Friday night after last call. Or so I thought, until I came across this funky version of the song by Rufus Thomas. No stumbling here. No drunken sailors. It's a struttin', hip-waggin' finger snappin' version of the song that puts a whole new spin on things. Namely, I don't believe for a second that Mr. Thomas is anywhere near ready to call it a night and “go home.” This man is ready to party all night long! And so am I. The Happy Medium Song of the Day — and the last in a series on the theme of “home” — is “Show Me the Way to Go Home” by
Rufus Thomas. Have a great weekend! (Please use the comments box to share your thoughts.) |
